Should you buy the Organic Apple or not?
Should you spend the extra 10 cents on buying an organic apple or stick with the non organic apple? This is the question on a lot of people’s minds, especially in the economy that we are faced with today. Pennies are being saved and people are trying to cut costs on everything including food. I have never bought organic, I just assumed that an apple was an apple and that was that. However I have been more cautious lately and have been researching more about organic fruit and food versus non organic. In my research I have decided that I am going to lean more towards buying organically grown fruit and food. I do not want to add any more chemicals and pesticides to my body than I already have. I know that I will still eat foods that contain these chemicals, but I would like to eat less of them. I have two kids and I would like them to eat better than I do and to have a healthier body. This is a great article form the Mayo Clinic website regarding Organic farming. It discusses the differences between organic and non organic, such as the benefits of organic food, USDA organic certification and buying tips. Another very interesting article is one I found on TIME magazine online. What I like about the TIME magazine article as how the author talks about how a non organic product from another state may not be as good as a local product. Do some research online and decide for yourself which you would prefer to buy and eat, organic may be the way to go and for some it may not.
