With the current economic situation bartering has become more popular than ever. With more and more people losing their jobs and more people getting pay cuts the best way to get goods and services is with bartering. We have been bartering for services for a few years now and it has worked out great every time. My husband and I have our own business COLEwebdev and we build websites for a living. We figured that there were a lot of other business’s on the Cape that were in need of a website and may want to barter services. We have bartered with electricians, carpenters, painters and photographers. We have had great success with each barter and we have built some great relationships all over the Cape at the same time.

What exactly is bartering? It is when you exchange services or goods without exchanging money.

We have posted many of the services we wanted to barter for right online on Craigslist.com in the Cape Cod section under the category “barter”. It is FREE to post a listing and it really does work! We see people all of the time on Craigslist wanting to barter. The most popular bartering we have seen is people bartering their vacation homes to each other.

There are many barter companies that you can join online and on Cape Cod. My parents have been members of a few large barter companies for many years now. They have bartered for our wedding photographer and a photographer to take photos of their motel. Both photographers did an excellent job and had a nice little vacation on the Cape at the Southfleet Motor Inn in return.

Here is a list of places to barter online and on the Cape:
