Homemade BBQ Sauce.. YUMMMM
While preparing chicken breasts and chicken drumsticks for grilling last night, we realized that we did not have any BBQ sauce to slather them in.. so we made our own. We pulled out the handy Fanny Farmer cook book and looked up BBQ Sauce and viola.. the perfect recipe was found for homemade BBQ sauce.
Below is the recipe we followed, with notes on what we did differently. We used spices purchased from Atlantic Spice Company, right in Truro on Cape Cod, the very best and worth the drive just to visit the store and to see ALL of the spices they have available for purchase. Let us know how your homemade BBQ sauce turns out! We would love to know!

Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe (Fanny Farmer)
3 Tbsp oil ( We did not use this)
1 onion, chopped (We used dried onion flakes from Atlantic Spice Company)
2 cloves garlic, minced (We used chopped garlic with olive oil, jarred)
1 1/4 cups catsup
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp chili powder (We used chili power from Atlantic Spice Company)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Mix all of the above ingredients in a bowl, let sit for 1/2 hour to create a thick and yummy homemade BBQ sauce to brush onto chicken of your choice. Perfect fro grilling and baking recipes.
