Easy Money Saving Tips
For some people saving money is not that easy at all. In my last post I mentioned that I know some people that cannot keep money in their hand for more than a few hours and they have to spend it right away. These people have no money in the bank and have no savings and buy small items every day. All if these small items add up and just think of all the great big items you could buy had you saved some money up.
I am not the kind of person who spends money, I am know as a frugal shopper and a cheap shopper. Friends and family think I am cheap because I don’t spend a ton of money, but I have reasons for doing this and that is because I like to have a safety net in the bank just in case. I also like to save money so that I can buy a larger or more expensive item that I REALLY like rather than just small things that are OK.
There are some very easy ways to save money and I have a few listed below that I think will help you start saving some money . Just make sure to put your extra cash in the bank or it will just get spent like usual.
Books – I know a lot of people who love to read books, and books can be expensive, especially if you are buying a new book each week. There are three great ways to save money and still read great books.
Option 1: Get your books from your local library, this cost is minimal at the least and will save you a ton of money over the year.
Option 2: Buy your books as you usually do, then when you are done, sell them on either Amazon.com or Ebay.com. You will get at least a portion of your money back and you won’t have stacks of books gathering dust.
Option 3: Buy your books used on Amazon.com or Ebay.com. This will reduce your money spent on books as well.
Telephone – If you are still using a standard phone line with your home telephone than you are spending WAY to much money on your phone bill. Switch to a VOIP phone line which is run through your cable internet line and will cost you about $15-$25 per month. With VOIP you also usually get unlimited calls to anywhere in the US and Canada and call waiting and caller ID. My husband and I have been Vonage customers for more than 3 years now and our service is great I would highly recommend checking them out. You can also keep your same phone number!
Buy Online - Whenever you are looking for a birthday gift, Christmas gift, baby shower gift or any other gift make sure to do your searching online before you buy. This way you can find a great gift and at the lowest price possible. Do comparison shopping online for the same product in different store and go with the store that is the lowest priced. This can save you tons of money. Local stores here on Cape Cod do not always have the lowest prices and you may pay more than online.
Water – Don’t buy bottles water unless you NEED to. Bottles water is costyly when you add up all the bottles you purchase over time. Just buy a water filter and add to your home faucet, then you will have fresh, clean and filtered water anytime. Also, bring your own water with you when you leave the house instead of buying bottled water.
