Credit Cards are BAD…and sometimes Good.
I have about a dozen credit cards and I do not owe a single penny on any of them. The reason for this is that I like to get credit cards when they are having special promo’s such as” no payments and no interest for 6
months”. This way I can buy an item that is more expensive, and pay it off within 6 months and there will be no penalties to me. Also, these credit cards usually have incentives such as: cash rewards and points. So using a credit card for just some purchases and paying them off before you pay interest and charges will also get you points towards stuff for FREE. You have to be very cautious off your spending when you do this and make sure to pay your credit cards on time or you will end up paying a fee and that is not the goal.
I also like to get credit cards because it highers my credit score. My credit score has been very high ever since I got out of college due to me paying all my bills on time. I keep all my credit cards active and place in a safe place and if the interest rate goes up and fee’s go up, I just don;t ever use it again. But keeping it open will make my credit score higher. Having a high credit score will get you a better car loan interest rate and allow you to make big purchases where you credit score is important.
I DO NOT use my credit card like a cash card where I make all my purchases on it and pay over time. This will only cost you MORE money in the long run and you will be paying finance charges and fee’s and more. Using your credit card this way will get you into debt that you may never be able to get out of because it is just soo easy to pull out your credit card and say, ” oh, I’ll pay for that later”.
Look online from time to time at the major credit card websites and see what specials they are offering and if they are having a good one, make sure to read the fine print, sign up and use cautiously. Your credit card will end up benefiting you if used properly.
